Hi all!
I have learned that VEM and YASKAWA provides normal sized motors with permanent magnet rotors.
The most interesting type for us is the 3-ph./400V/4p/ca.2kW.
What we think of, is to change a normal induction motor for a PM to get better dynamics and specially more torque at low speeds on a MM440 controlled screw conveyor (with gear). Exact speed is not a requirement.

- Did anyone of you try something like this?

- Some more info about comparison between PM and conventional motors would be appreciated.
Especially torque/speed curves.

Hi,

Yaskawa stopped selling these PM-motors in europe. Generally
is a PM-Motor much more complicated to configure within the
inverter.

In a conveyor I would prefere a ac-motor. In my opinion a open-loop
PM-Motor is a good solutiion for pumps and ventilation, because
theese applications don't need a high starting torque and normally
won't use alternating torque during run.

Best regards

No Problem

You´re right. VEM as traditional asynchronous motor manufacturrer ist also producing PM ´s. Rotor is modified with permanent magnets but a good nameplate with all datas you need....not normally with pm- motors.

Lafert is also one in an classic motor design with good nameplate.

Most are now used for mor effenciency (classes year 2015, 2017 etc) but all must be used with an FC. Open or closed loop is depending on application. pumps, fans and low performance .....open loop.
But compared to asynchronous motors tey are much more expensive to buy...even with low performance/effenciency.

With an implemented gear .....a realy good motor is the OGD...OneGearDrive from Danfoss. PM- Motor with an gear in high IP class.

I don´t know what a siemens MM 440 need to run it but a FC 100/200 oder 300 can run a all kind of motors...even a pm motor in close or open loop. You only need some datas (nominal current, torque, speed, EMK at 100 RPM, Rs Star, Ld Starconnection....so half of data phase-phase, number of poles.....thats it!
