Hi all,
I am in need of Profibus adapter That should work without Siemens drivers like step-7 (set pg / pc interface) / softing drivers etc.
The adapter should have USB at one end. The adapter should comes with API's to communicate to variable frequency drives.
so that I can create my own application using it and establish profibus communication between my variable frequency drive and PC.
I can pay for API and adapter.
could you please tell me is there any kind of adapter?

Thanks all. .

Hi, I think it is helpful looking at previous discussions for answering this question.

I have already answered him on PLCTALK.NET.

Essentially he wants a cheaper solution than having to buy hardware plus software from Siemens or Softing et al. And it must be Profibus DP master-slave.

@natarajan.

You should describe exactly what you want to achieve.
Then people can suggest solutions.

I think you want to control VFDs (i.e. start/stop, speed etc.) via Profibus and a lower-cost solution than Siemens CP5711 and software driver. The general-purpose Profibus hardware and software, like Siemens CP5711 and softnet, and Softings cards and software can be used for that, and you can use the API to develop software to control start/stop and speed.
I dont think the Deltalogic USB adapter can be a Profibus master controlling DP slaves. I might be wrong though.

But in the other thread it seems you want to change parameters on the VFD. If that is the case, why dont you just use the manufacturers software which you typically get free of charge. Like in the other thread where the Danfoss software seems to work via the Deltalogic adapter. Why make it by yourself ?
The APIs for the profibus cards and drivers cannot be used for this purpose.
