Solved. Thanks a lot. I have mistaken the RS232-to-422/485 convertor as the old fashion one in which one has to tied up the (TXD+, RXD+) and (TXD-, RXD-) together to get RS485. The new fashion one that I used just needed T/RXD+ and T/RXD- for the A,B lines of RS485.

I solved the problem. The problem was the com port of IBM T30 notebook did not give DTR signal. I tried with Siemens PG740 with the same cable and same software. I could do the readback with PCSPRO 5.8. PCSPRO 5.8 did the auto serial port settings. Thank you for all your help. Best regards, KK
