Gentelmern, I am unable to get any guidance on this issue on my normal english forums. Siemens technical help line requires $300 US to address support on "Mature" products. I hope you can help

I have a customer with a KAMMANN bottle printer. The controller is a S5-105R. The only programmer I have available that might be of some use is a 740 PG II. I am trying to confirm that this programmer will be compatible with this controller. Sorry for the english on your forum. Hope someone can help. Thank you

Never had to work with this type of controller, but this thread:

S5-105R mit PG 720???

and the manual states, that you'll need a PG605R or PG655R to program this device.

Thank you Thomas. I did read that thread. The only direction I have found is the 740 PG manual states it will work with S5-90U to S5-155U but I have been told that the U version differs from the R version.

I can't give you further help. We'll have to wait for a S5 classic expert ;-)

As far as i know, you need a PG605. There was an program for PG675 to read and convert S5 110 and 105 to 'normal' S5.

For the "R" CPUs you must use "R" PGs. It`s not possible to have access to the R CPUs with normal PGs.

Thank you all so much for sharing your information. At this point I am understanding that the 740 PG II programmer will not function with the S5-105R controller. I see that even the PG605 hand held programmer comes in both U and R series. Can anyone elaborate on the difference between the U and R series controllers that they need different programmers?
